Foxes

Foxes, relatives of domestic dogs, are found across the world, inhabiting every continent except Antarctica.  Known for their intelligence and resourcefulness, these adaptable animals often thrive in environments where human activity provides them with easy access to food, water, and shelter.  In the U.S., the most common species are the red fox and the gray fox.

Despite their nocturnal nature and tendency to avoid humans, one of the most telltale signs of a fox's presence is its droppings, or scat.  Fox scat can resemble that of other animals, so proper identification is key to determining if a fox is in the area.  Since foxes are known for their digging abilities, they can cause foundation issues by burrowing under homes.  This, coupled with their predatory instincts, can pose a threat to farmers' livestock and pet owners.
