Moles

Commonly mistaken for rodents, moles are actually classified as mammals of the order Eulipotyphla, which includes hedgehogs and shrews.  Subterranean by nature, moles are solitary creatures and can be found throughout the United States.  They are destructive because of their tunneling habits that mar yards, gardens, and even farms.

Overall, mole feces is not harmful to humans, pets, or yards.  There are no infectious diseases humans can acquire directly from mole droppings.  However, the pests themselves may have ticks that carry Lyme disease, and finding mole poop in yards is a sure sign of infestation.  The removal of these pests can eliminate danger, as well as stop landscaping issues, such as loss of grass and death of plants, from occurring.
